From 1969 to 1973 Larry Thornhill went through the Building Trades Council’s Apprentice Carpentry Program (BTCACP). During his time in BTCACP, Larry won the State Apprenticeship contest in his district. He worked as a carpenter for Rudolph & Sletton in Mountain View, doing primarily commercial construction. Thornhill also worked for Art Stinson Construction in San Jose, which is a large production framing contractor. From 1973 to 1977 Thornhill worked as a carpenter, production foreman, and customer service representative for such companies as Jonce Thomas Construction in Fremont, Ditz-Crane in Santa Clara, and Tanner Construction in Campbell. In 1977 he obtained his General Contractor’s License and went into business for himself. Thornhill Construction was incorporated in January of 1981.
Larry Thornhill is responsible for production, design, quality control and sales. He also supervises all field operations. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Associated Builders and Contractors, a Merit Shop Builders Association based in Dublin, California and also has instructed both the beginning and advanced carpentry classes at the Merit Shop Training Center.
Thornhill Construction expanded from the Bay Area to El Dorado County in 2001. Operations in El Dorado County grew to a point that in 2003 the entire operation was moved to this county. Thornhill Construction is a family owned and operated business. His wife, Pat, and his daughter Ashley, oversee all office activity. Thornhill Construction takes pride in meeting all the construction needs of the people that they service.
